Moving!

Hey dudes,

As of yesterday, R and I are officially homeowners!

The rear of the home:

I haven't moved in four years. While it is so exciting to move forward and make changes, it's hard to say goodbye too. Perhaps the hardest thing is just changing the daily routine. Only when everything is in destruction mode do you realize how much you cling to the daily cup of coffee while sitting in the same chair, coming home from work and plopping down on the (disgusting) couch (which I was hoping to abandon at the curb....I guess we will be moving it!)

The random items tucked into closets can bring back a lot of memories as well. I found my old cordless phone from high school and college, and I felt sad to plop it in the Goodwill pile. The act of moving puts into focus how you've changed; it's sort of a twilight time where all of your past relocations come together, outlining your story.

Hopefully I can post photos of our house next week!

P.S. There is a friendly neighbor cat who came over to our new crib last night and willingly submitted to my lovies. Nice.

Bug Attack!

Hey, y'all!

Hope you're doing smoov mid-week! I am packing, exercising, thinking about packing and hanging out with people.

Beauty on the St. Olaf campus:

Once again the Box Elder Bugs are invading our apartment:

It's weird; before I went to the gym today there were several clusters of like, 100 bugs, and by the time I got back the clumps had dissipated.

A mini-gathering on this little plant:

Meanwhile, R is on his way to the OC! Jerk. Last night he felt like a little coffee:

I'm excited for the Project Runway finale tonight! Also I've heard Ryan Adams and the Cardinals new single "Fix It" TWICE on The Current. It's from their upcoming album Cardinology! EEEEEEEEeeeee! I'm going to see them open for Oasis at the Xcel Energy Center this December. Yes.

Romancing the Stone

Howdy, all!

I hope you are feeling good this October!

Lately my critter sightings have been limited to the usual birds (except for an eagle soaring over the Mississippi as I crossed it on the 94 bridge), squirrels and bunnies. Have you encountered any wildlife?

I decided to take the critter crisis into my own hands the other day. At my workplace there is a shady landscaped garden. It seemed like a very good idea to lift a few of the garden rocks to see what lived beneath!

I found:

Mr. Slug:

The outdoor centipede, which is less scary than his indoor cousin!

And the centipede's vegetarian relative, the millipede:

Sometimes one needs to go the extra mile to find wildlife!
